Wedding Rings

Egyptians used wedding rings very first time in the marriage party about 4800 years ago. It was a symbol of eternity for Egyptian. It is a custom of exchanging rings in the wedding parties. Today, not only the brides wear wedding rings as symbol of lasting affection, but the majority of grooms also wear wedding rings of fidelity and commitment. Wedding rings are symbol of love and affection to the bride and groom with each other.

A wedding ring actually consists of a precious metal ring. In different certain coutries like UK, USA and Brazil, brides and groomes wear wedding rings on the base of the left ring finger the fourth finger counting from the thumb of the left hand. But in many other countries like Norway, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Germany, Poland and Russia, wedding rings are worn on the right ring finger. A spouse wears the wedding rings in the finger which indicate a marital commitment to fidelity. Wearing a wedding ring in the finger was a European custom which has spread widely beyond Europe.

Wedding rings are given to brides and grooms as a gifts which also may include the engagement ring, traditionally given as a betrothal present. Wedding rings are made of different luxury and expensive materials like some of wedding rings are made of pure shiny gold, and in some wedding rings, a luxury diamond is embedded which enhances the beauty of the ring. In European countries, this myth became very popular that wedding ring price is traditionally one to two month's salary, which shows that the man has actually enough money to support his fiancy. Almost all the European country’s people like to engrave the name of the person in the wedding rings who is getting married, thus strengthening the symbolism and sentimentality of the wedding rings as they become family heirlooms.

Among Eastern Orthodox and Eastern Catholic Christians, this custom is entirely different. The exchange of wedding rings are not technically part of the wedding service, but rather are exchanged at the betrothal and it is always a two-ring ceremony. They always made a gold ring for groom and the bride's ring made of shiny silver. Exchanging wedding rings became a popular trend all over the world and that’s why there are enormous shops are situated in almost all countries that are selling high quality wedding rings.
